Joy Human Development is a Zambian Non-Government Organisation that was established in Lusaka in 2003. JHD aim to bring social, economic, environmental and sustainable development to the community.
Currently JHD is operating alongside other NGO’s in Zambia’s capital city and in the two provinces of Kitwe and Mumbwa. Their priority is to bring projects that enhance quality of life, health and education to these areas. Objectives are to provide malaria and AIDS awareness education and control as well as health and general education to vulnerable communities at grassroots level.
JHD work predominantly with those most at risk including children under 5 years old, orphans, widows, youths and families in poverty. JHD uses arts and crafts, drama and sports as tools to empower women, children and young people.
Malaria is a killer disease in Africa. JHD are taking an active role in education at an early stage in schools, encouraging people to use preventative measures and change their behaviours in order to reduce risks.
